Recipe round-up: Ground turkey

I’ve had a package of ground turkey thawing for a few days in the fridge, so it’s high time to cook it before it spoils. I’m a little tired of my usual–turkey taco salads using the very-low-sodium taco seasoning from Whole foods–so I decided to take a tour of the Internet and see what I could find.

Here are the results:

Cooking Light’s Turkey Bolognese:

Sparkpeople’s Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers (I’d add some grilled onions on top!)

Taste of Home’s Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps (If they taste anything like PF Changs, I’m sold. Look for low-sodium sauces because dishes like this can contain WAAAYY too much salt.):’s Turkey Mini Meatloaves:

And, finally, Food Network’s very wordy Turkey Meatballs With Quick and Spicy Tomato Sauce and Whole Wheat Spaghetti:

To be perfectly frank, my eyes start to glaze over if a recipe has any more than four ingredients. It’s going to be a real stretch for me to make one of these (except maybe the turkey burgers, which I make fairly regularly) rather than opening up a can of Manwich. But that’s my goal for this weekend: to make a new recipe I haven’t tried before. I’ll report back with the details!

Do you have some great ground turkey recipes to share? (A favorite of mine that didn’t make the list today is crockpot turkey chili. The way the house smells all day long…it is absolutely heavenly!) What ingredient should I feature in the next recipe round-up? I’m hoping to do these weekly so I can have a quick way to reference the recipes that appeal to me!

My life has always been pretty darn fantastic--except for one thing: my weight. Not too long ago, I tipped the scale at 283 pounds. This blog has seved as an accountability tool as I journey from a happy, but fat, person to a happy and confident person. And for the first time in my life, I'm no longer putting it off until tomorrow. This time, I'm starting this minute.

    I’d be happy to come over and taste test the Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps if you decide to cook those sometime. 🙂 I suggest a butternut squash round-up! I have one in my fridge that a neighbor gave me and I have no clue what to do with it.
