12 weeks

Three months passes in the blink of an eye. But, used wisely, that time can be used to accomplish so much. This is what I did in 12 weeks last year:

I’m about 20 pounds heavier than I was in the after picture right now, but it is my aim to be back there, or a bit below, in the next 12 weeks. I know I can do it because I’ve done it, and it’s completely within my control.

There is a new crop of Fittest Loser contestants now and one recently contacted me to get some advice. She also mentioned that I was an inspiration to her. I almost cried when I read that. There are so many people who have inspired me and it shocks me to be on the other side of that equation.

I want to be an inspiration, and I need to earn that right.

Twelve weeks is a short period of time, but so much can happen within that window. Where do you want to be in 12 weeks? How will you get there? Most important, do you truly believe that you can do it? I know you can.

About Kristen K

My life has always been pretty darn fantastic--except for one thing: my weight. Not too long ago, I tipped the scale at 283 pounds. I'd gain some, lose some and gain some right back, and I was so frustrated. When I saw a notice for a Biggest Loser-style contest in my local paper, I applied on the spot and I felt like I won the lottery when I found out I was one of the five contestants chosen. We worked out four times a week with trainers and followed a clean eating diet, and my life completely transformed. I've lost more than 60 pounds and I'm feeling confidence for the first time in my life. I'm 29 years old with a great husband, a rewarding job, two adorable dogs and fantastic friends. Weight loss continues to be a struggle now that the contest has ended, but this time I know that I can do it and I'm fully committed. This blog has seved as an accountability tool as I journey from a happy, but fat, person to a happy and confident person. And for the first time in my life, I'm no longer putting it off until tomorrow. This time, I'm starting this minute.

I remember when you were applying to the contest last year and it was inspirational to me to see you get into the contest, follow your journey through it and all the things you were able to do (fitness-wise). I know I’m just some internet stranger and more of a lurker, but I do want you to know that you have probably inspired more people than you think. I embarked on my weight-loss/healthiness journey a year ago.

I haven’t set a 12-week goal – my current goal is to be in One-derland by my birthday at the end of June. In 12-weeks, I’d like to be able to run (more like jog) at least 3 miles and maybe even sign up for a 5k around my b-day. I’m hoping to join the local gym and do the C25K on the treadmill to get to my goal.

I know you can achieve your goal(s) too. You’ve proven that you can do it before. You pushed yourself (mind & body) further than you thought possible and you can do it again! It’s all about making lifestyle changes that can last a lifetime.
